Al Lindner Hosts Fishing Challenge; Urges Anglers to Enter

NPAA Tournament  Partner
Published April 27, 2011

Entries are already coming in the door for the Minnesota Fishing Challenge, a fishin' mission on Gull Lake, hosted by legendary angler and Brainerd, Minnesota resident Al Lindner.  He personally backs Minnesota Teen Challenge, the benefactor of the fishing tournament, and urges anglers of all ages to consider participating. The date is June 4.

This is the third year for the Fishing Challenge, a fund-raiser for Teen Challenge.  Two-person teams are welcome.  The entry fee is only $100, and each team raises a minimum of $500 from church family, relatives, co-workers, neighbors and friends.  The fund-raising has been described as "easy" and "not tough at all" by past contestants.  Teams receive a packet of sales materials to quickly achieve their fund-raising goals.  Only 100 teams are permitted.

Teams may fish any or all divisions, panfish, walleyes, bass or pike.  An option is to fish the Mixed Bag division (one fish from each division).  Anglers bring their fish back to Cragun's beach for the weigh-in, where prizes will be awarded for top finishers in each division.   Prizes include MinnKota trolling motors, Frabill ice shelters, US and Canadian resort stays, and dozens of rods and reels donated by top professional tournament anglers and marine and fishing tackle industry leaders.

Anglers will meet host Al Lindner and honorary tournament director Steve Pennaz.  They will also meet new friends while supporting a great cause.  More information, schedule and entry blank can be found at mntc.org/fishingchallenge.  Direct questions to Jim Kalkofen, 218-833-8777, or jim.kalkofen@mntc.org.

For more than 25 years, Minnesota Teen Challenge has been helping addicted individuals find healing and hope. They serve teens and adults with both long-term faith-based recovery programs and short-term treatment programs at locations in Brainerd, Duluth and Minneapolis.  Their mission is to assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical addictions and other life-controlling problems by addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  For more information, contact the Central Minnesota Teen Challenge center at 218-833-8777 or visit them on the web at www.mntc.org.
